about
Sparkle. It’s exactly what Civil Wray does on her brand-new single, appropriately entitled “Sparkle”. Civil Wray, the nom de plume of Toronto singer songwriter Andrea de Boer, worked with producer Matt DeMatteo (Danko Jones, Big Wreck, Ashley MacIsaac) in creating an ethereal, dreampop song, that may remind listeners of artists like Fiona Apple, David Bowie, and Tame Impala. It’s a song about existential loss and the redemptive power of love. “Sparkle”is the first release from Civil Wray’s upcoming 5-song EP.
lyrics
Some things are blue
Don't make me think of you
This tinsel town
is lacking some sparkle mmmmm
Life goes so fast
The future past
While all my time
is lacking some sparkle
Who am I
Who am I to say...ehh
And what have we become now
And what have we become now
And what have we become now
How will we know
When will we know
Love, Love, Love
Ooh Love slow me down
No sparkle, no sin,
Was your love just a whim
Lonely dreams take me away now...
Some days you win
Most days you lose
You blew my fuse
Now I'm lacking some sparkle hmmm
Don't you hesitate
You crushed my fate
And with these crumbs
I'm lacking some sparkle
Who am I
Who am I to say...yehh
And what have we become now
And what have we become now
And what have we become now
How will we know
When will we know
Love, Love, Love, Love
Ooh Love slow me down
No sparkle, no sin,
Was your love just a whim
Lonely dreams take me away
Ring all your merry bells
Make it more merry
Close all your sadness off
Ring with your maybe
Sing and shout
Rain and drought
And if you ever doubt
Keep your heart from danger
Sing and shout
Rain and drought
And if you ever doubt
Maybe you're the stranger...
And what have we become now
And what have we become now
And what have we become now
How will we know
When will we know
Love, Love, Love, Love
Ooh Love slow me down
No sparkle, no sin,
Was your love just a whim
Lonely dreams take me away now...
Ever since that silent spring
And its tearing you apart
